Did you know that a toucan’s beak, despite looking big and heavy, is actually light and made of a spongy, hollow material called keratin? That’s the same substance found in our hair and nails! The toucan’s iconic beak can reach up to half the length of its body and serves many purposes it helps the bird grab fruit from hard to reach branches, regulate body temperature, and even attract mates with its vibrant colors.

Toucans live in tropical forests, especially in Central and South America, and they’re known for their loud calls and social nature. They usually move in small groups and spend much of their time hopping from tree to tree. Their diet mainly consists of fruit, but they also eat insects, small lizards, and eggs when needed.
A fun fact is that toucans can’t sing like other birds they make croaking and barking sounds that can travel long distances through the forest! And did you know that the Guinness World Records once featured the toco toucan for having the largest bill-to-body size ratio of any bird in the world?
Each stroke of color becomes an opportunity to learn about biodiversity, rainforest ecosystems, and the wonders of tropical wildlife. So bring these toucans to life and enjoy a creative journey full of nature, fun, and vibrant colors!
